About Sam Storey
Samantha Storey lives in Burlingame, California, located in the SF Bay Area. She graduated from Burlingame High School in the spring of 2023 and is currently a 1st year at the University of Virginia. The inspiration for this project came from her dyslexic brother, Jack, and her frustration with the lack of resources and awareness in mainstream schools regarding dyslexia. Sam wanted to find a way to try to help the 1 in 5 dyslexic students that are in every classroom.
The Story Behind "The Sam List"
"The Sam List" started during the fall of 2020 when COVID was still heavily affecting my community. I was frustrated that I couldn't babysit and realized how hard it must be for parents trying to work with their kids stuck at home. I wanted to do something to help them even when I couldn't be there in person.
I came up with the idea of creating a list of suggested activities and projects families could do at home to entertain their kids. I published two lists, the original Sam List and The Sam List: Winter Edition.

When creating The Sam List Dyslexia, I tried to carry a similar tone and layout as the original Sam List. Although the projects are different, they both have the goal of helping kids and families.
